Amici - Italian for ‘friends’.

Valentina of SnailYarn and I started our first collaboration last year in Hamburg. This year we will meet again in Berlin.

Berlin Knits is all about meeting friends, chatting, laughing and knitting, so we decided to put our heads together for a second collaboration.

With my friends in mind I designed this cowl and hat in a squishy, soft woolen yarn. New and old friends tested this set to complete the circle.

Some of them will be in Berlin too and some of them just in mind.

Yarn
2 skeins SnailYarn BFL/Masham DK (Bluefaced Leicester/Masham British wool, 100 gr-262yds/240m).
Sample shown in color: natural, 476yds/435m used.

Or any DK weight yarn, approx. 437-492yds (400-450m).

Materials
US 6 (4.0 mm) 24” (60 cm) circular needle or size to obtain gauge.
US 7 (4.5 mm) 24” (60 cm) circular needle or size to obtain gauge.

Stitch markers, cable needle, tapestry needle.

Gauge
One cable pattern repeat (28 stitches x 12 rounds), blocked = 4.25” x 1.54” (10.75 x 3.9 cm).
Gauge is not that crucial but will affect final size and yardage.

Finished dimensions
Approx. 25.6” (65 cm) circumference x 17.75“ (45 cm) height.

Adjustments
Size is easy to adjust.

Pattern is easy to memorize and looks more complicated than is.
