Amigurumi Shark & Dolphin
A 2-in-1 Amigurumi pattern to help you create your own shark and dolphin crochet plushies. This crochet pattern can be purchased on its own, or as part of my Caribbean Pirates Bundle.
⚠ Please note: This listing is for a digital crochet pattern download only, not a physical toy. It is written in English only, using US terminology. If you would prefer UK terminology, please let me know and I can provide this. The pattern will be available to download immediately after purchase. It has been independently tested, and contains detailed instructions with high quality photos. ⚠
ABOUT THE PATTERN
The pattern starts at the top of the head and works down, incorporating the pectoral fins and tail as you crochet, and creating the belly through colour changes. A bit of sewing is required to create the tail and attach the dorsal fin. Additionally, there is some simple embroidery for the shark’s mouth and gills, and a bit more sewing to attach the dolphin’s beak. I’ve provided options for either safety eyes or crocheted eyes. Using DK yarn and a 2.5mm hook, Eggy Shark/Dolphin reaches a height of approximately 13cm. I’d love to see your completed projects; feel free to share them by tagging me on Instagram @dreamweave.creations or visiting my Facebook page, DreamWeave Creations.
SKILL LEVEL
I have assigned an advanced beginner skill level to this pattern. While the majority of it involves simple stitches, there is some assembly required in sewing components together. Additionally, there are a few colour changes to create the belly and crocheting the tail and fins can be a little fiddly for the first couple of rounds.
MATERIALS NEEDED
DK yarn in chosen colours, the following colours were used to create this pattern:
For the shark:
grey for body, fins and tail
white for the belly
Tiny amount of black embroidery thread or yarn for embroidering mouth and gills
For the dolphin:
light blue for body, beak, fins and tail
white for the belly
If you are opting for crocheted eyes, you will also need a tiny amount of black and white. I used a thinner yarn for this (5 ply / sport weight) along with a slightly smaller hook. You can use the same weight yarn but they will turn out slightly larger than in the photographs.
2.5mm crochet hook
10mm safety eyes if not opting for crocheted eyes
Toy stuffing
Scissors
Pins
Stitch markers
Tapestry needle
Feel free to explore variations by swapping out yarn, safety eyes and hook sizes to achieve a different outcome, and get creative with experimenting with various colours. This pattern works particularly well with plush yarn. Photographs and suggested yarns are included within the pattern.
