This is a top-down, oversized, circular yoke cardigan. “Amikomi” is a Japanese word meaning “stranded knitting”. It combines vintage charm with a modern silhouette with a roomy body and sleeves and a short body.
It is worked in the round from the neck rib with a double knitting border around it, then the yoke is worked down to the underarms. For a visual appeal, several sets of short rows are added between the colorwork pattern to make the back higher. After the sleeves are separated, the body is worked in round to the ribbed hem. The sleeves are also knit in the round. Finally, after the center of the front steek is reinforced with crochet, then cut open, stitches are picked up and knit for the button bands. Typically, inconspicuous yarn is used for the crochet reinforcement, but deliberately using a contrasting color could give a lovely result. This pattern provides two versions of the colorwork: Multicolor and Monochrome. Please enjoy choosing colors!
Differences from my “Amikomi Yoke Sweater” pattern: Besides structural differences such as steek and button bands, there are variations in each of the Short rows sections, and in a part of the chart for matching the pattern on the left and right sides of the front. Finished sizes are also different.

These measurements can be achieved only with the correct gauge. Please select the size that gives you the desired ease based on the finished measurements. The model is 165cm / 5’5” tall and wearing a size 3, with approximately 39 cm / 15¼” ease in the bust and 16 cm / 6¼” ease in the armhole circumference
in relation to the arm.

GAUGE
26 sts and 31 rows = 10 cm / 4” in stockinette stitch and colorwork with 3.5mm / US 4 needle, after blocking.
26 sts and 36 rows = 10 cm / 4” in stockinette stitch with 3.25 mm / US 3 needle, after blocking.
Adjust needle size as needed to obtain gauge.

Monochrome ver. Yarn F: 6 skeins of Dark Gray, yarn G: 1 skein of Beige, yarn H: 1 skein of Medium Gray.

NEEDLES
Colorwork: 3.5 mm / US 4 circular needle, 80 cm / 32” or longer AND needles suitable for working small circumferences in the round.
Stockinette stitch & rib of hem and sleeves: 3.25 mm / US 3 circular needle, 80 cm / 32” or longer AND needles suitable for working small circumferences in the round.
Rib of neck and button bands: 3 mm / US 2½ circular needle, 80 cm / 32” or longer AND needles suitable for working small circumferences in the round.

OTHER MATERIALS
Crochet hook a few sizes smaller than the needle for colorwork (2.0 mm / US 0 is used for the sample) and scissors for steeking, tapestry needle, 6 buttons with a diameter of 20 mm / ¾” (if altering length or number of buttons, in the required number), stitch markers, removable markers, waste yarn.

トップダウンで編むオーバーサイズのヨーク・カーディガンです。身頃幅と袖はたっぷり、丈は短めにデザインしました。裾の長さと袖丈は、編みながらお好きな長さに変えることができます（その場合は糸の量・ボタン数等が変わりますので、ご注意ください）。試着しながら、お手持ちの服に合わせやすいように調整してみてください。
編み方は、衿のリブから輪で編みはじめ、衿もとにダブルニッティングの縁を入れた後、各模様の間に前後差を出すための引き返し編みを入れながら脇下まで編みます。袖を分けた後、裾のリブまでそのまま輪編みで編み、袖もすべて輪編みです。
最後に前身頃の中央に作ったスティークの両側をかぎ針編みで補強した後、ハサミで中央を切り開き、前立てを左右の前身頃から拾い目して編みます。かぎ針編みを使った補強は、通常目立たない糸を使いますが、目立つ色をあえて使ってもすてきだと思います。

（同じ模様を使ったパターン「編み込みヨーク・セーター」との違いは、スティークや前立てなどの構造上のものに加え、引き返し編みの各セクションと前身頃左右の模様を合わせるため一部チャートが異なります。またサイズも異なります）
