Ammonite
When we opened our shop Ammonite Yarns, we looked around for a pattern for a knitted mascot. Nautie by Beth Skwarecki gave us inspiration and helped with joining techniques. Our version has surface stitch patterning and shaping to better reflect the ammonite fossils we find locally and the fibonacci spiral.
This is a pattern for a stuffed toy ammonite knitted in the round in one piece starting with an i-cord. The toy is stuffed and joined as you go.
One ammonite requires part of a ball each of Stylecraft Merry Go Round DK (a self striping yarn) and Stylecraft Special DK (a solid yarn). You should be able to make three ammonites if you use an entire ball of each yarn.
You will also require a suitable toy stuffing - we used a CE marked polyester stuffing.
The yarn, stuffing and needles are available from our website as a kit which has been CE tested.
