Amoeba proteus
I just find amoeba fascinating - mostly because they can change their shape by extending and retracting pseudopods. Yikes!
This little critter is an Amoeba proteus, otherwise known as a ‘giant’ amoeba. Maybe you’ve even peered at one at school?! It has a little purple nucleus, yellow food vacuoles (just what HAS it been eating!) and a couple of white contractile vacuoles.
Such a beauty, it seems a shame not to have one at home - maybe you should make one?!
The ButterflyLove pdf Amigurumi Amoeba proteus knitting pattern gives you clear step by step instructions to make your own microbiological cutie.
