Among the Wildflowers Cowl
“You belong among the wildflowers, You belong in a boat out at sea, Sail away, kill off the hours, You belong somewhere you feel free…” -- Tom Petty
I published my Among the Wildflowers scarf in 2018 and while recently updating the pattern in 2020 it hit me that this stitch pattern would make a beautiful cowl.
So, I created Among the Wildflowers Cowl using the same stitch pattern and edging for an is easy to wear crochet piece especially nice for gifting because it is quick to crochet with easy-to-memorize row repeats. You can crochet this cowl in several hours. The cowl is crocheted sideways, followed by the edging and wet blocking, and the final seam.
Among the Wildflowers Cowl is an easy project, and skills required are chain, double crochet, triple crochet, and sewing a simple seam. A schematic and a stitch chart are included as well as written instructions.
This cowl uses about about 260 yards (~60 grams) of fingering weight yarn. This is perfect for leftover balls of fingering weight yarn you might have, or those skeins that do not come with a lot of yardage. For my cowl, I used Malabrigo Mechita, my favorite single-ply yarn, that comes in many gorgeous vibrant colors. The color shown is Mechita in “Lluvias”.
Best of all this crochet cowl is very wearer friendly, and does not require any specific wrapping technique for wearing so it makes a great crochet gift.
