The Amphitrite hat, named after the Greek Goddess, Queen of the Sea, wife of Poseidon, is made up of lovely eyelets created with yarn overs, paired with faux cables, and decreases to create the illusion of waves and fish tails on a purled background. The pattern works best with solid, solid with speckling, or tonal yarns as the stitch definition will be lost with more variegated colouring. The pattern has written instructions along with a chart that accompanies all parts of the hat, to suit whichever way you prefer to follow your knitting patterns. With a total of 9 different stitches utilized, this is a great pattern for the knitter who is looking for a pattern with the look of cables, but with no cable needle required!

The Amphitrite hat is worked brim-up in the round on double-pointed needles or a 40cm / 16” circular needle.

Instructions are for a 112-stitch circumference brim, and the hat is knit in this order: Brim, Body, Crown.
