Amplify Jacket
The Amplify Jacket is an oversize jacket in rib on large needles. The back is constructed with fine increases starting from a point at the neck.
The jacket is worked top down. First, the upper part of the back is worked. Stitches are then picked up along the shoulders and the front pieces are worked separately.Decreases are made along the armholes and then increases at the front edge.
All parts are assembled and the body is worked back and forth on the needle until the jacket has the desired length, finishing with a stockinette stitch edge.
Stitches are picked up along the front edge and a stockinette stitch edge is made.
Stitches are picked up along the armholes and the sleeves are knitted separately in the round. At the same time, decreases are made on the inside of the sleeves. The stitch count is reduced before the stockinette stitch edge to create a slight balloon effect.
You can choose to add buttons to the jacket or leave it open. Due to the size of the stitches, buttonholes are not necessary.
You can leave out the sleeves to knit an Amplify Vest instead. The edges along the armholes needs no further finishing.
