Amplify Shawl
One of the ways to break up and prevent pooling patterns is to keep changing things up—like the stitch count! You begin working this asymmetrical shawl side-to-side with a small number of stitches, then increase every other row until you reach your desired wingspan or run out of yarn. I love the appearance of hand-dyed yarns in plain old garter stitch even more when it’s broken up by sections of easy lace mesh. This shawl is a great way to use that variegated yarn you’ve been saving. We’ve knit it here in a strong handpainted colorway (Tapestry) as well as a quieter watercolor colorway (Smitten) to show different potential effects.
