Amyrlin's Stole
This stole features the usual 7 stripes, in the proper order. Each stripe is composed of a different kind of lace, emulated in the Keepers’ Stoles. The stole is knit vertically, the stripes put together with intarsia as one knits along.
The lateral gauge (stitches per inch) doesn’t matter so much to this pattern. At the end, the stole should be about 15” wide with stripes of even width, with the end result that every stripe will have a slightly different gauge in the finished product. Every effort has been made to keep the width pre-blocking fairly even, but one does need to pay good attention to that as one blocks.
Length is simply controlled by iterations. When blocked, one complete iteration of the pattern should come out to two inches. The sample on the lovely and gracious Vivianna Sedai, The Watcher of the Seals, the Flame of TarValon.net, the Amyrlin Seat, shown both here and in the pattern is 9 ft and 54 iterations in length, but she is comparatively tall and that can be adjusted to fit folks of all heights without trouble. Just leave off (or add in) a few iterations!
I really hope you enjoy this pattern; I put a lot of time and love into it and had a great deal of fun making it!
