An Afternoon in Spring
This quickly knit little shawl is a pretty accessory to keep the chill off your shoulders on cool evenings. It’s simple and clear enough for beginner shawl knitters, and quick enough for last minute gifts. It is semi-circular in shape, and is based on a pi shawl.
A huge thank you to racoonims, purrdee, kmb34me & ParticuleAlpha who tested this pattern, Their lovely (and varied) projects are on the projects page.
The size varies depending on the blocking ability of the yarn used.
Two sizes are given (small & Large). I have knit and blocked 3 samples and their ultimate sizes are:
Small
knitted in Wensleydale Long Wool Aran = 1m x 46cm (39” x 18”)
Large
knitted in Wensleydale Long Wool Aran = 1.3m x 52cm
(51” x 20.5”)
knitted in Noro Taiyo = 1.22m x 55cm (48” x 22”)
Tension - 15st = 10cm (4”) after blocking. Accurate tension is not necessary for this pattern however knitting to a different tension than stated will result in a change in the final size of the shawl and the yarn requirements.
