When I first saw the two red tones of Coastal (a new yarn from Elemental Affects), I knew right away that I wanted to combine them in narrow stripes in a top-down circular yoke design. I didn’t swatch for long before I came up with the simple 8-round pattern consisting of 4 rounds each of the two colors shown here.
For more interesting transitions between the stripes, the first round of each new color is worked in a simple slip-stitch pattern to create a subtle texture.
The tee begins with a provisional cast-on at the neck. The yoke is worked in rounds to the armholes, with increases along the way to shape the shoulders. Stitches are placed on holders for the sleeves while the body is worked in rounds to the lower edge. The sleeves are then worked in rounds. Simple k1, p1 ribbing finished the neck, lower body, and sleeves.
Ten sizes are provided: About 33 1/4 (35, 37, 38 3/4, 40 1/2)(42 1/2, 44 1/4, 46 1/4, 48, 49 3/4)“ (84.5 89, 94, 98.5, 103 cm) bust circumference, requiring 3 (3, 3, 4, 4) (4, 4, 4, 5, 5) skeins of the main color (#303 Raspberry) and 2 (3, 3, 3, 3) (4, 4, 4, 4, 5) skeins of the contrast color (#302 Deep Pink).
Throughout the lower body, one stitch is purled at each side for a “faux” seam that helps the sweater hang straight.
