I designed this sweater very specifically for a friend who likes a loose fit, low hemline, sleeves to bury one’s hands in, and large collars that don’t bunch around the neck. So understandably, this may not appeal to or be sized for you (pattern is written in one, albeit generous, size {it’s designed with about 8-10” of positive ease} - see measurements below) - but if it does and is, here it is for your knitting pleasure. Top down, in the round, it is cast on provisionally and the cowl collar picked up and worked at the end; short rows are used to shape the neckline. A relatively simple project for a competent knitter.

My friend was born on the first day of the week, and so I have called this sweater by the Elvish name for Sunday - Anarya.

~ Pattern is given in written instructions, no charts. ~

NOTE: I knit this pattern left-handed, so for any (typically) right-handed knitters the collar will split/button on the opposite side than pictured.

  • Supplies:

  • size 7 & 8 needles, long circulars (you will need two 7s to work the collar back and forth) and double-points
  • scrap yarn & crochet hook for provisional cast-on
  • scrap yarn/stitch holders for sleeve sections
  • several stitch markers
  • 6 buttons about 3/4”
