The inspiration for this design published in The Knitter was traditional Turkish sock stranded patterns. Turkish stranded patterns flow vertically rather than horizontally as in traditional Fair isle patterns.

The waistcoat is knitted in the round as one piece using steeks. A crochet technique was used to secure the knitting before cutting the steeks.
