Anatolian Star
This pattern is made in overlay mosaic crochet. I was inspired by rugs and motifs from Anatolia and Turkey when creating this repeating pattern.
This is a fairly simple pattern suitable for someone who is intermediate at crochet, particularly if you have done some mosaic crochet previously.
This mosaic crochet pattern includes written, step-by-step instructions, charts with drop-down stitches marked with an X, a few illustrative photos and links to video tutorials that may help with the techniques involved (videos were not made by me but are my recommendations for crocheters who find these helpful). Please note the back of any mosaic crochet design will look like stripes so the design only appears on the front side. You can download the pattern in either US or UK crochet terminology.
I give instructions for making a blanket or a cushion cover, but the repeating mosaic pattern below could also be used for a table runner or wall hanging, amongst many other possibilities. The pattern has a fairly large repeat - 74 stitches across (and 48 rows up) so can be scaled up and down accordingly, this would be easiest with a larger project like a blanket.
I used DK weight (group 3) yarn, Scheepjes Softfun in Rust, Tortilla, Butterscotch and Jam. For my cushion cover (16x16” / 40x40cm), I used 150 yards / 100g color A (light) yarn, and 210 yards / 135g color B (dark).
