Anatomical Heart Surgery Trophy
Red Heart Super Saver is the yarn that was used in the samples. About 20 yards of blue and 75 yards of red were used to make this heart. Size, hook and yardages will vary based on your gauge, which, for this pattern, is not important-you will just want to be sure you crochet tightly so that you don’t have large holes or the stuffing will show through.
And adventurous beginner should be able to make this heart. The hardest part is sewing the pieces together. You will need to make a magic ring (there is a photo tutorial in pattern) and work in the round.
I had open heart surgery at the age of 12. It has taken years and years to become comfortable with my scar. I now wear it as a badge of honor and am always happy to make one of these hearts as a trophy for anyone else that has entered the Zipper Scar Club! Sadly, I’ve had to make quite a few in the last few years. The upside is that it has enabled me to fiddle around and find a pattern that I like enough to have the feel of a realistic heart without being overly complicated.
This pattern has been tested by my wonderful testers! If, however, you find an error or have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me.
