Anchored Socks is inspired by that feeling of finding your safe space - what is home for you. Be it a physical place, a place in life, a person. It’s the place where you can drop anchor and just be.
I wanted a strong colorway for this pattern, especially the anchor. The Indigo with the Chilli Pepper and the Natural to break it, worked very well together.
Chilli Pepper really made the Anchor stand tall and strong against the darkness of of the Indigo.
The features for this sock include:
- a twisted rib cuff
- a contrast heel and toe
- colorwork on the leg section
The sock construction is cuff down and although the pattern is written for Magic loop, you can use your preferred sock knitting method (DPNs or 9” circulars)
I used Proper Sock by Cowgirlblues in colors Indigo (MC) Natural (CC1) and Chilli Pepper (CC2)
For the lighter option I used Camel as the MC instead of Indigo.
Proper sock yarn is a 75% Merino 25% Nylon base, fingering weight - 100g skein (400 yards / 366 m)
Yarn Usage:
For size medium:
72 g (264 m / 289 yds) for the main color
10 g (37m / 41 yds) for contrast color 1 (Natural)
20 g (74 m / 81 yds) for contrast color 2 (Chilli Pepper)
Needles: Always check your tension
Size 2.25 mm for the cuff, heel, gusset, foot and toe.
I have a tight tension so I used a 2.75 mm for the stranded colorwork on the leg.
Notions:
- Tapestry Needle for Kitchener stitch and weaving in ends
- Stitch markers
