This lace and garter stitch cowl was inspired by the sun setting over ancient ruins. As daylight fades, the tumbled
stones are framed by a star-strewn sky; this is reflected in the colors and construction of the cowl. The ruins are
depicted by the garter squares in a golden brown, while the starry sky is represented through a lace pattern in a deep
blue.
Although at first glance, the pattern seems to consist of many different parts, these parts are knitted together by
picking up stitches as you go. So this pattern is perfect for those who don’t like seaming, as not one seam needs to be
stitched. The cowl is knitted back and forth, with only the ribbing knitted in the round. The circular shape of the cowl
is created by joining the lace to the garter squares by picking up stitches as the lace is knitted.
