The pumpkin size depends on the yarn, knitting tension and filling density. In order to keep fabric tight enough so that the stuffing won’t show through, use needles smaller than recommended for the yarn.

Pumpkin may be knit in any yarn (weight, fiber etc), this information is just for example:
Gauge: 24 stitches and 36 rows = 10 cm (in Stockinette)
Yarn: 27-87 meters (30-95 yards) of any DK-weight Yarn
e.g.: Sirdar Snuggly Replay DK
(50% Cotton, 50% Acrylic; 50 grams / 150 meters (164yds))
For stem: approximately 2 m of yarn in a different color.
Needles (double pointed or circular): №3 — 3.5 (US 2½ – 4), depends on your knitting tension

Small: d ~ 8,5cm (3⅜”), 9 g — 27 m (30 yds)
