The simple, straight-forward, elegant lines create a classic garment that is at the same time beautiful and practical. Vertical ribbing throughout the sweater gives a slenderizing effect. The front diagonal cable stitch pattern flows perfectly into the V-neck, which is knit right into the sweater so that there is no extra neck edge finishing required. Not only does this unique and ingenious neck edge minimize finishing, but it also complements the style of the organically flowing lines of the silhouette. This is my bulky yarn version with this neck edge—‘Siena Serenade’ was in fingering weight sock yarn, and ‘Azalea’ was in worsted weight cotton.

Pattern includes both charts and written instructions for the front panel diagonal cable design and photos of the neck edge instructions.

This pattern is named in honor of the famed American author, Flannery O’Connor. Her farm in Georgia was called ‘Andalucia,’ and on it one of her pet projects was raising peacocks, of which the hues in this yarn remind me.
