Andrew's hat
Using this pattern you will be able to make a warm hat with a beautiful colorwork pattern in a size that will fit the standard adult head circumference. The hat is worked bottom up in rounds starting with the rib, then a contrast color is added and the colorwork pattern is worked. After that, the stitches are decreased and the crown is finished. A pom pom can be made at the end.
SIZE:
ONE SIZE – adult size.
MEASUREMENTS:
- head circumference of 56 - 58 cm [22 - 22.8’’].
GAUGE:
23 sts x 29 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4’’] in colorwork stockinette stitch on 3.5 mm [US 4] needles.
23 sts x 29 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4’’] in plain stockinette stitch on 3.5 mm [US 4] needles.
The hat is knitted in round, so it would be best to make the swatch in round as well. The size of the swatch made in rows can differ slightly from the one made in round.
NEEDLES:
3 mm [US 2.5] and 3.5 mm [US 4] fixed circular needles / 40 cm [16’’] and 3.5 mm [US 4] double pointed needles or 3.5 mm [US 4] interchangeable circular needles / 80 cm [32’’] cable.
However, always choose the right size of needles to meet the pattern gauge.
