Shibui makes such beautiful yarn that it was easy to pick three colours for this lightweight summer scarf in Pebble, Shibui’s gorgeous mix of recycled silk, merino and cashmere.

This version features Tar, Ivory and Bordeaux, but other colour combinations will work too.

For this scarf, I began with a tubular cast-on using two strands of Ivory and knitted a simple seed stitch slowly changing into Tar and then Bordeaux. The shifts are achieved by swapping one of the two working strands for a different colour. I simply left the strands not in use to be carried up the inside of the scarf, but alternatively you may cut them and weave in the ends.

If you decide not to use a tubular cast-on, simply add a row of seed stitch after casting on, and another before casting off. This pattern does use nearly the entirety of all three skeins, so it’s worth checking your gauge and perhaps adjusting it to your preferred dimensions.
