Andromeda - a spiral galaxy with arms reaching out in sacred geometry to twist and swirl across the night sky.

This circular shawl can be knit in any weight yarn. You are simply casting on 8 stitches and increasing until you have a shawl the size you want, or until you have run out of yarn. A larger weight yarn makes a larger shawl. To make the shawl smaller than suggested in the pattern, you simply end each section with less stitches in between each slipped stitch. For example, in section one, knit until you have 41 sts between the slips instead of 61.

Yarns
For this pattern you will need 2 yarns of contrasting colors. Two solid colored yarns, or one solid and one not, would work best.
I used two hand spun yarns of heavy fingering weight.
Handspun Main Color - 200 g or 950 yds 869 m California Red sheep dyed with Kusagi berries
Handspun Contrast Color - 150 g or 712 yds 650 m Targhee

Gauge
Varies. With the yarn I used, I achieved 22 sts & 32 rows = 4” / 10 cm in garter stitch, blocked.

Sizes
Variable. My results were a 52” (132 cm) diameter circular shawl.

Tools

• Circular needle - use the recommended needle size or one size up for the yarn that you are using. For my heavy fingering weight hand spun yarn I used US #3/3.25 mm circular needle, increasing in length as needed to hold all of the stitches
• DPNs can be used in the beginning, switching to circular needles as you build the diameter of your shawl
• Darning needle
• Stitch marker (more than one can be helpful if you are wanting to mark your slipped stitches)
