The Angel romper is worked in stockinette stitch in two directions. First, cast on the stitches for the upper part. Next, work the back and front from the bottom up, graft the shoulder stitches with Kitchener stitch. Shape the neckline with a button or drawstring closure.
Pick up the stitches along the armholes, work the sleeve ruffles in the round and short rows. Then, pick up the stitches for the body from the upper part’s cast-on row and work the body in the round to the gussets. Work the back and front gusset, leg edges, and sew on the buttons.

Designer’s recommendation: for a newborn size, follow the instructions for size 0-1 month, but make the upper part and body a few rows smaller. See more details in the appropriate sections.

Notions: : 2.5 mm (US1.5) circular needles with a cable length of 40 cm (16 in), 2.5 mm (US1.5) double-pointed needles, 2 mm crochet hook, stitch markers, 4 buttons (for all sizes), tapestry needle, about 50 cm (19.6 in) of waste yarn in a contrasting color.
If you want the button closure on the back, you will need 5 buttons.

Gauge of the stockinette stitch after washing and blocking – 26 stitches × 38 rows = 10 cm × 10 cm (4 in × 4 in) on 3.5 mm (US4) needles.
Before you start, make and wash the sample. If necessary, adjust the needle size to match the gauge.
