Angelshawl/ Strickengeltuch Michael
THIS SHAWL IS SYMBOLIZING ARCHANGEL MICHAEL – THE WARRIOR OF LIGHT
WHO DEFEATS THE POWERS OF DARKNESS WITH HIS LIGHT SWORD
His name, Michael, means “Who is like God?” in Hebrew.
This is the Archangel whom we call upon for aid in the fight against negative tendencies. He helps us finding the inner light in ourselves. Historically, he is viewed as the protector of Israel and later the Catholic church.
He is the Guardian angel of policemen, soldiers and small children and also watches over pilgrims and strangers. He is the fiery warrior, the leader of the Heavenly forces who is fighting for law and righteousness and leading those in great distress. Archangel Michael is also the bearer of patience and happiness.
The shawl is worked from the nape edging downwards – knitted from the top down – and has two different sides that symbolize the sword and shield.
