Angle Iron Motif
This design is an extension of a pattern from Mary Walker Phillips “Knitting Counterpanes”, p. 40. Her design had only 16 rows to it. The pattern is so attractive, I extended it to 40 rows. This simple pattern with yarn overs and decreases is easy to follow visually once you’ve completed a few rows. You could also extend the pattern past 40 rows to whatever size you desire which would reduce the amount of seaming needed later.
4 triangles are sewn into a square. Squares are sewn together to make a table runner, baby blanket or bedspread, etc.
Any block-able thread or yarn and needle size can be used for this project. Triangle and square sizes will vary accordingly. Block and measure your first triangle to determine size. #10 crochet thread and #1 U.S. (2.25mm) needles make about a 3.3” triangle (measured on a short side).
