Angostura
This design began on my trip last March to the Edinburgh Yarn Festival, so it’s fitting that it gets released this week, one year later.
Angostura bitters add a bit of interest to the simplest of cocktails, as the cables and shoulders do here on a classic pullover. Modern shaping, interesting construction, and an intricate (but easier than you think!) back panel make this sweater anything but ordinary.
Knit seamlessly from the bottom up with saddle shoulder construction and a strap across the back, this is a loosely shaped pullover with ease at the hips and A-line shaping in the body. The shaping and saddle shoulder construction ensures a nice fit through the shoulders, and adds beautiful lines to the sweater.
Blacker’s Classic yarn was the perfect choice for this, a rustic everyday fiber in a versatile weight that can be worn anywhere. The range of colors Blacker offers in this yarn are fantastic and the British wool is sheepy and heathered and traditional – quite fitting for a classic pullover.
Yardage per size:
Sizes:
35.5(37.5,39.5,41.5,43.5,45.5)(48.5,51.5,55.5,59.5)” 90(95.5,100.5,105.5,110.5,115.5)(123,131,141,151.5) cm
Based on finished size around bust. I suggest choosing a size that gives you about 3” of positive ease at bust, 6” of positive ease at hip.
Yardage
1150(1200,1300,1350,1450,1500)(1650,1800,1900,2000) yds 1055(1100,1190,1245,1325,1375)(1510,1645,1740,1830) meters.
Note: Yarn is labeled as a DK, but knits up beautifully as a worsted weight yarn, and the gauge for Angostura is 4 sts/6 rows per 1”.
