Angus is a traditional scarf--long, rectangular, and knit in garter stitch at that!

For intermediate or advanced knitters, or anyone good at reading their knitting, this is pure television knitting, and using an interesting yarn with color effects (aran-weight handspun, for example) is highly recommended to keep it interesting during the longer rows. Also, it looks neat when you’re done.

For the same reason, Angus is also a good scrap project--but it works best with thick aran-weight yarn that’s consistent in grist.All the samples currently shown were made with oddballs and scraps from other work, and I find I’m a little down about the lighter-worsted stripes.

Gauge is 12 sts and 28 rows in 4” of blocked garter stitch. To match the dimensions shown, please be sure to check your gauge.

Materials:
Approximately 450 yards of aran-weight yarn
One long 48”+ circular knitting needle in US 8/5.0mm, or size needed for gauge
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
5 large 1”/2.54cm buttons for the original version
Two stitch markers
Optional: needle and thread for attaching buttons
