This third installment in the Night at the Movies Sock Club is inspired by West Side Story.
I adore the choreography of The Gangs Fight in the Street from West Side Story and the musical score for this film.
The pattern is named after Rita Moreno’s character Anita, who I learned spoke up against lyrics in songs that she was supposed to sing because they were discriminating. The writers changed the lyrics because of her amazing ability to stand up for herself and what was right. I have so much admiration for women who break barriers and stand up for what’s right.
Worked in the round, Anita contains both cuff-down and toe-up written directions and a chart for the pattern stitch. The pattern has instructions for an afterthought heel, but you may substitute whatever heel you enjoy using.
The pattern is written for the magic loop method for knitting socks; however, the design could be worked on double-pointed needles or mini-circulars instead should you prefer.
