Annalouise
Annalouise is a memory from my childhood – she was real, my Grandpa’s sister, but mostly images and impressions. She lived all the way out in Washington. The Northwest was so far away for a little Iowa farm girl. I recall her paintings in Grandma and Grandpa’s house more than I do her. The artist element made me feel like she was very special somehow. I hope this little bit of lace art honors her.
Annalouise’s garter crescent shape and lace border will gently surround the shoulders and neckline to give your spring style a bit of frothy color. It is small enough to carry with you while traveling to add that little bit of warmth on the airplane or in an air-conditioned restaurant. It is the splash of color to brighten up casual layers or the little black dress.
This airy little shawl is knit from just one skein and is available two sizes, Petite (Tall). The shawl is worked flat from the outer lace in toward the garter edge. All wrong side rows are worked in purl in the wide lace section. The design feathers into garter stitch short rows that create the gentle crescent shape. All lace is created with three types of decreases – left leaning, right leaning and centered decreases paired with yarnovers create the delicate edge shaping and the lace. It is suitable for new lace knitters.
