Anne Boleyn's Blouse
This is a draped loose fitting blouse designed to use the lovely soft characteristics of fine 100% alpaca yarn. The soft angora at the cuffs and neckline and the elegant Fair Isle edgings give the blouse a Renaissance touch.
The blouse will fit a size 32, 34, 36 and on a size larger needles a 38.
I decided to use the King Charles brocade pattern to give texture to this slightly variegated yarn and also for the connection to Anne Boleyn, who met a similar fate to Charles I although somewhat earlier.
You will need an 80cm 3mm circular, an 80cm 2.75mm circular, a 60cm 3mm circular, a 40 cm 2.75mm circular, a set of 4 3mm dpns,and a set of 4 2.75mm dpns.
I chose the shade Gimmerburn for the main colour from Doe Arnot’s selection of hand dyed yarn because of it really glows. As contrast colours I used Doe Arnot’s Dark Chocolate and Anny Blatt’s Angora Super shade Celeste. The quantities used were four 100 gm skeins of Gimmerburn, one 25gm skein of Dark Chocolate and two balls of Celeste (although I only needed half the second ball).
This is a wonderfully flattering and comfortable pullover to wear. It is also a most practical garment and I wear in preference to all my other pullovers - and they are numerous!
