This was designed as a 50th anniversary  gift. You can make a punch card  with other names by following the punch  card creation tutorial that follows the  pattern or simply replace the third line  of type with a decorative card that has  flowers or wedding bells. This is a big  project but worth the effort!

YARN, GAUGE AND MACHINE The project is made with any yarn that gets a gauge of 7 stitches/10 rows per inch in stockinette on a standard gauge Japanese machine with a ribber or Passap machine. Suggestions for those with single bed machines are included. The blanket shown is made in full fisherman’s rib which requires two beds. This means that a very large blanket may be made in a single panel. The sample is 72”X72” when the fisherman’s rib fabric is stretched width-wise. When it relaxes for folding it is roughly half as wide and twice as long. Should you wish to make big blanket without the use of fisherman’s rib, a two panel stockinette or tuck stitch blanket would be nice, too. Use any #1 weight yarn or create your own bargain yarn by running 2-3 strands of industrial 2/24 together. About 7500 yards of yarn are required for the fisherman’s rib version. Also needed is about 3 ounces of contrasting yarn for the writing. Yarn Country Flash was used in the sample. Punchcard design is included. There’s also a tutorial on creating a punchcard with other names and sayings. The words may be knitted in with fairisle or duplicate stitched.
