Another Granny Hat
I had been looking for a pattern for a granny hat for a long time, and after many tests, I decided to write one myself.
I used worsted weight yarn (Drops Nepal 65% wool 35% alpaca) in different colors, but you can choose the kind of worsted yarn you like most. You can change colors in every round or use just one color, there aren’t rules. I’ve used 91 gr – 136,5 meters – 149,2 yards.
Pattern is written in US crochet terms
There is no gauge because it is a made to measure project. You have to measure the circumference of your head and divide by 4. The value obtained will be the side of every granny square. For example: my head measures 56 cm, the side of the granny squares I made is 14 cm – 5”
This hat fits an adult, but you can make any other sizes using smaller granny squares
The final width is approx 25cm – 10,5’’
The final height is approx 22cm – 9’’
This pattern is customizable and you can add extra height or width as you like
Try this project with another version of granny square: you can find many example on magazines, books and online (follow the hashtag #grannysquareday to be inspired).
