I have always enjoyed making dishcloths as big “swatches” to play with stitch patterns, but I have never liked the traditional cotton yarn that mildews and smells and never dries out. As part of my work on my series of articles, “Yarn 101,” I thought it would be appropriate to try some dishcloths in hemp. I am a convert! Even my husband loves them. They dry quickly and scrub dishes surprisingly well, and our prototype has not developed an odor. They would also be very effective for exfoliating! However, this could easily be worked in cotton dishcloth yarn as well.
