Antalya Mosaic Blanket
This overlay mosaic crochet pattern design was inspired by travels in Turkey and repeating patterns seen in local architecture, rugs and more. There are six patterns of varying related motifs - all include a chart and written instructions.
These are fairly simple patterns suitable for someone who is intermediate at crochet. If you are new to mosaic crochet patterns, I have included some basic instructions and photos, and links for some of my favourite video tutorials (videos were not made by me but are my recommendations for crocheters who find these helpful).
I give some ideas for making a blanket or cushion cover, but the repeated mosaic patterns below could also be used for a table runner or wall hanging, amongst many other possibilities. The pattern can be scaled up and down easily, by simply adding 30 or 60 stitches for the pattern repeat.
This project really suits a decorative fringe border, which saves a lot of time compared to the typical envelope border in mosaic crochet!
I used DK weight yarn - mainly Stylecraft Special DK in Burgundy & Mocha (plus Hobbii Butterfly in Bronze Copper/ Kind Feather in Light Brown) . For my afghan blanket size (40”x64”) project, I used 2,000m/ 2,190 yards / 675g dark colors and 1,700m/ 1,860 yards / 575g light colors.
I’d love to see what you make!
