Antheia Sweater
This is the pattern for my perfect oversized and cropped sweater, that is also great for a scrap buster project, because the loose shape is perfect for gauge differences. It’s worked on needles a little larger than usual, which makes it nice and light, as well as making it a very fast project – I’ve made one of these is about three days! This sweater looks amazing with the big stripes, but also makes for a wonderful neutral sweater with a dramatic silhouette if knit in one colour.
This sweater is knit bottom-up and includes both knitting in the round and flat. Shoulder seams are knit together, and you’ll pick up stitches for the arms and the neck, but those are maybe the hardest elements of this, making this a super easy and beginner-friendly pattern.
This pattern is one size, but due to the sweater being very oversized it will fit on a lot of different body types and sizes. I have also included instructions on how to adjust the pattern to make it smaller or larger if that is something you wish to do. The chest circumference of the sweater will be 126 cm (49”) – on the photos it is worn on a 95 cm (37”) bust. I’m also extremely to happy to help figure out the best adjustments for you.
If you want to buy the yarns for this sweater the ideal gauge is 18 sts and 26 rows. The yarn will be knit on 6 mm needles with which the gauge will be 14 sts and 16 rows – this will achieve a super light feel to the sweater.
Due to the fact that this sweater also works as a scrap buster (you can use up all your leftover yarns with this) it takes in a lot of different yarn weights. I’ve used yarns from 28 sts and 36 rows to 15 sts and 18 rows, and I’m sure you could use yarns with even more dramatic weight differences. If you have extremely thin yarns try holding them double to get a closer gauge and play with colour.
