Antlers have long had a tie to academia: they denote wisdom and regeneration, and have long had ties to the sacred/knowledge with their sky-reaching prongs. As I scanned my shelves for inspiration this month, I noticed a prevalent theme in some of my favorite Fall YA reads: academia with antler symbolism.  Whether Prongs from Harry Potter, the beautiful antler-bedecked cover of the third book in The Raven Boys series, The Raven King, Shadow and Bone, or yes, my beloved Farseer Trilogy, antlers are everywhere on my shelves!  Maybe, like the ravens, wolves, and foxes that also feature heavily in my bookshelf aesthetic, it’s me - but I can’t help but reflect how academia and antlers seem to be a perfect match for this season that brings us change, reflection, steps into a new future with school almost in full-swing, and, hopefully, a little wisdom from the lessons learned in the first half of the year as we apply that knowledge in the latter half.

It is also perfect for:

Gift knitting

Scrappy projects, stash-busting, and leftover bits and bobs

Building beginner cable knitting skills in a small, quick project

Marking your place in all your back-to-school endeavors!
