From Nancy Bush’s Pattern Introduction:
These ladies’ mittens were inspired by gloves from the village of Paistu, in Viljandimaa. They are named for Anu Raud, an honored Estonian crafts woman, weaver of exquisite tapestries, and collection of the folk art of her people. …
A Continental cast-on begins the cuff, which is shaped with decreases and increases. A six-stitch pattern repeat follows for the hand and thumb. Both finish with a one-wick decrease.
