A'Nyia's Promise Prayer Shawl
Pattern is an openwork, lightweight shawl with a pronounced ‘wing’ effect and slightly ruffled edge.
Please be sure to read the “Process and Pattern Notes” on page 1 of the pattern before beginning.
Gauge is not important to this pattern.
It was originally designed to use Wolltraum My Melodyy 4-ply 8.8 oz/250g, 1038yd/950m cake.
Alternative yarn was used during the pattern testing: Hobby Lobby - I Love This Cotton, Scheepjes Whirl, Cascade Ultra Pima Cotton using 820 to 1000 yards so this pattern is easily adaptable to various yarns and hook sizes.
Another alternative yarn that was used by Daniele Mabrouk was Scheepjes Whirl (Green Tea Tipple) (1000m) and a 4.0 mm hook (pictures included).
Proceeds form the sales of this pattern will be donated to the Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, TX USA for childhood cancer research.
DISCLAIMER: While there are some similarities between the butterfly stitch used in this pattern to the free “Butterfly Stitch Prayer Shawl” created by njSharon and DebiAdams, the specific stitch combination used in this pattern was taken from a doily pattern originally published in 1931. It is considered an antique stitch pattern and is in the public domain. This pattern in no way infringes upon the copyright of the “Butterfly Stitch Prayer Shawl.”
