Aosta Sweater (Chunky Edition)
The Aosta Sweater Chunky Edition is a top-down project that is worked in the round. It is knitted in Andalusian stitch using the Wool by We Are Knitters, which gives a lovely, highly textured finish. Any other super chunky-weight wool, like Crazy Sexy Wool by Wool and the Gang or Sirdar Adventure, would also work well. It has a high neck and slight balloon sleeves and is finished with 1×1 rib stitch on the collar, hems, and cuffs. It’s the perfect sweater for winter!
This is an ideal project for anyone learning how to make a top-down sweater in the round for the first time, as it works up very quickly and the stitches are easy to work.
You will need approx. 5 (5) 6 (6) 7 skeins / 400 (400m) 480m (480m) 560m of The Wool by We Are Knitters or any alternative yarn that matches the necessary tension.
The sizes XS (S) M (L) XL are intended to fit a bust measurement of roughly 85-90 (90-95) 95-100 (100-105) 105-110 cm with around 15-20cm positive ease. The fit is meant to be relaxed, so as to best show off the amazing texture of the wool and the stitch. For reference, my bust measures c. 90cm and I made the size S.
You will need 9mm and 15mm long circular needles. You can either work the sleeves using the magic loop technique or, if you have them, use double-pointed knitting needles. You will also need 8 stitch markers and a darning needle.
