Apogee Pullover
Apogee means the farthest or highest point. I’m usually the highest point in a room, lol, and I know that most of the tall knitters I’ve designed this for are as well. (Standard sizes are also included).
Apogee is a top-down v-neck pullover with cables and raglan sleeves. The raglan shaping incloses a cable, which travels down the body to create waist shaping, and back up the arm for a fun sleeve detail. Cables flow organically into the ribbing. It’s the perfect boyfriend-style cardigan, and includes traditional and tall lengths (5’10” - 6’6”). (The sample design was knit to fit a 38” bust, 6’ tall.)
This pattern is worked from the top-down in one piece. Sleeves are worked in the round. Actual bust size (34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44 inches); Finished size (35.25, 37, 39, 40.75, 42.5, 45 inches). Yardage listed above is for the tall sizes; standard sizes requires 1100-1320 yds. Both are estimates; please check the return policy of your LYS, and consider purchasing an extra skein if you are taller than 6’ 2” and concerned about running out.
To knit this pattern, you should be familiar with cables and reading a chart, and you’ll need the following supplies:
- 9 stitch markers (4 in color A, 4 in color B, 1 in color C to denote end of round)
- cable needle
- darning needle
- optional row counter
Apogee is also available as a cardigan.
special thanks to Katherine Vaughn for tech editing this design!! Also Akshata Dhareshwar for her contributions, and Sheila, Cathy, and Sarah for test knitting.
