Apple Leaf Edging
Here’s a leaf with a long, winding stem! I changed the original Apple Leaf Edging from Weldon’s Practical Needlework, Volume 2 by substituting tidier increases for Weldon’s double yarn overs and adding 2 more stitches for a straighter header edge. My version starts with just 14 stitches, increasing gradually to 22 stitches before returning to the original 14. There are only 12 rows to this pattern and half of them are: k3, p to end!
Skills needed: long-tail cast on, knit, purl, slip, yarn over, kf&b (knit front and back of 1 stitch), k2tog, SK2P (slip-k2tog-PSSO), SKP (slip-knit-PSSO) and bind off in knit stitch.
Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able thread/yarn will work. Make a swatch to check dimensions and appearance.
7 yards will make 1 12-row repeat (1 inch) in the stated gauge.
