Apple Tee
Pattern Notes:
This lightweight tee is knit from the bottom up in the round, starting with a rib and lace border. The instructions are both written and charted. The back and front are separated and worked back and forth in stockinette stitch; the shoulders are grafted together with Kitchener stitch. Stitches are picked up for the neckband and armholes and are finished in twisted rib.
Yarn ~ heavy fingering / sport weight:
290 (340, 390, 450) (520, 590, 670) yards /
265 (310, 355, 410) (475, 540, 615) metres.
Pictured sample was made in Skein Merino Silk Sport.
Needles:
US 5 / 3.75 mm circular needles ~ 40 (40, 40, 40) (60, 60, 60) cm long.
US4 / 3.5 mm & US5 /3.75 mm dpns or longer circular needle for magic loop method for sleeves & neckline.
Notions:
Stitch markers, holders / waste yarn, tapestry needle, small crochet hook (optional).
Sizing:
6m (1, 2, 4) (6, 8, 10) years.
To fit chest size:
Approx. 18.5 (20, 21, 23) (25, 26.5, 28) inches /
47 (51, 53.5, 58.5) (63.5, 67.5, 71) cm.
Use the schematic to choose a size with approx. 5 - 7 inches / 12.5 - 18 cm of positive ease.
Gauge:
24 sts and 32 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) square in stockinette stitch in the round on larger needle. Adjust needle size if necessary, to get gauge.
Row gauge is important for this project. I highly recommend knitting a swatch and washing and blocking it.
