I could really go for a vacation right now! I’m channeling some of my travel-planning-energy into dishcloth form, to remember places I’ve been and plan places I want to go someday!
My trip to Stonehenge in 2017 was fantastic - and it poured rain the entire time, which felt right. It has inspired two dishcloths so far - check out the Close to Stonehenge pattern too.
The techniques for this pattern are easy! You only need knit and slipped stitches to create the pattern, and only one colour of yarn is used at a time. This is a great introduction to the techniques used for “mosaic knitting”, and creates a cute and practical cloth in no time!
Yarn:
Worsted weight (4) cotton yarn in two or three contrasting colours; approximately 36m/40 yards of the background colour and 18m/20 yards of the ground and stone colours. Cotton yarn is recommended for dishcloths; but any fibre (or weight) would work for the pattern.
Gauge is not critical for this project, but will affect the finished size and yardage required.
Needles: 4.5mm (US size 7) straight knitting needles
Finished Dimensions: Approximately 9” square.
Pattern instructions: Written and charted instructions
