Skeins: 3 skeins of MC and 1 of each CC

Yardage: MC: 450 yd (411 m) CC: 180 yd (165 m)

CONSTRUCTION:
The scarf is constructed in panels that are connected to a section of “freestyle” knitting. The difference in weights of the MC and CC are what create a 3D effect to the lettering.

Each lettering portion of the scarf is knit with ladderback jacquard to fasten the CC to the back of the MC fabric without it showing through. A plain stockinette panel is knit separately for the backing and mattress stitched along the sides of the front lettering panel. The two letter “tubes” are knit this way and then freestyle knit with different stripes with the extra yarn and joined together with grafting (kitchener).

This scarf isn’t knit in the round due to the thick nature of the CC, doing so would add extra bulk to an already bulky scarf.
