Scarf and Hat are worked in st st in the round using stranded colourwork. Loosely carry the unworked yarn colour along WS, making sure not to pull tightly. Both ends of Scarf are worked in garter stitch. For Hat, Brim is worked first, then Body of Hat is worked from opposite side so Brim can be folded up later – push work through centre of circular needle loop so that WS is now facing you. This will be new RS of Hat.

For colourwork sections of both patterns, any of the colour pairings listed in the Colour Schemes can be exchanged with any other two-colour combination. Try to avoid using one shade more than others to avoid running out of yarn and creating a colour imbalance. Use the colour pairs in the Colour Schemes as inspiration and cross off any of the pairings you use to avoid repeating combinations. There is one exception: for the Scarf the first and last colour pairings (shown in bold) must be used to get a neat transition from start and end of Scarf into the colourwork section. When using charts, each row of chart is repeated multiple times until the end of the round.
