April Showers
The April Showers cowl is worked flat and on the bias, starting with a few cast on stitches. It is shaped into a triangle with increases along the edge of the knit.
When the triangle is large enough to make a cowl, the opposite tips of the triangle are brought together and closed with a slight overlap, then secured with a tapestry needle; no seaming is necessary.
This cowl is knitted in two colours in stripes to accentuate the garter stitch pattern with rows of eyelets. The selvedge stitches are worked in the same colour from start to finish using the intarsia technique.
This accessory is knit with a single-ply fingering weight yarn, which gives a fabric with good stitch definition that is also soft and fluid. Choose wool or wool blend yarn for best results. It is recommended that you knit a sample to test the yarn before starting a project.
