This hooded sweater is a great pattern for a beginning knitter looking to advance his/her skills.

The sweater starts at the top with the hood and then stitches are added and picked up to join the piece together. The rest of the sweater is a basic top down raglan construction, knit back and forth with increases for the shoulders

The stitches used are knits and purls, kfb and ssk, with a bit of color change for the ribbing.

The pattern includes the directions for the front pocket. Once the pocket is completed, it can be whip stitched to the main fabric.

The closure in the back is a zipper. Please don’t be intimidated by this. I’ve included a link to a helpful tutorial by Yarnspirations that shows the method I use to attach zippers. There are other tutorials out there as well, but I like this one best, especially for a doll sweater.
