April Showers Scarf is a fun and innovative scarf pattern just perfect for rainy days! The pattern uses beads to mimic raindrops falling left and right, ending on top of the umbrella borders. The scarf starts from the middle with a provisional cast on and no “raindrops”. As the chart repeats continue, raindrops begin to “sprinkle” as beads are added gradually. The last two chart reps have a full shower of beads. The provisional stitches are then picked up and the pattern repeated for the second half.

The two umbrella borders are created separately using a beaded cast-on. Each umbrella border is then grafted to stitches on hold at each end of the scarf body.

If you wish to make a longer scarf, simply add more chart repeats either in the “No Beads” section or toward the end in the “Full Beads” section. But please remember that you will need to have more yarn, approximately 50 yards or more for each chart rep, depending on the yarn weight, composition and your kntting style. It is ideal to weigh the skein before you start and then weigh it after each chart rep so you will have a good idea of how much to add.
