Now the modern English City of Bath, Aquae Sulis was a small town in the Roman settlement of Britannia. The Romans built a bathing centre and shrine there around the hot spring which was dedicated to the Goddess Sulis by the Celts. The spring was channelled to various areas of the baths, creating different pools and areas for the Romans to relax and socialise. The flowing channels and small rippled pools in this hat are inspired by the Roman baths which still exist in the centre of the old city.

The hat is worked in the round, from the brim to the crown, featuring sections of stocking and garter stitch in the round. The decreases are worked out to ensure the rippling pools and channels flow out from the brim in an eye-catching pattern.

Adult small (medium, large) -

46cm/18” (51cm/20”, 56cm/22”) around the brim after blocking for adult head circumferences of 51cm/20” (56cm/22”, 61cm/24”).
